Finally, only having lived in Stockholm for a YEAR, we had a tunnbrödsrulle. The equivalent of Jumbo Slice in Adams Morgan, ifyouknowwhatImean. I was too scared to order my own hot-dog-mashed-potatoes-cole-slaw-shrimp-salad wrap, so this came with 2 very tiny forks.
Yon made us do it. And at the same place Anthony Bourdain goes to in No Reservations, too!
Men det är ju GOTT, ju! :) (But it's awfullly good, don't you think? :))
ReplyDeleteVar köpte ni den, förresten? Where did you buy it, by the way? I don't live in Sthlm, so I'm kind of curious. :)
ReplyDeleteThey were pretty good (though I'd hold the shrimp salad in the future.)
ReplyDeleteWe went to a place at Medborgarplatsen...right across from Debaser. Anthony Bourdain shot the show in 2002 or something, and its the same place!
I have never heard of this item. Wow. Brave!
ReplyDeleteThey do the shrimp 'n mayo salad here too, and I just don't get it... But if you and Tony say it's good, I may actually have to try it when we visit ;)
ReplyDeleteYou are officially Swedish now after having this late-night special. Like you, I had to try it and have had exactly one as well!
ReplyDeleteI had a second one... Clearly, I'd gotten cocky, as it wasn't as "good" a I remembered.
ReplyDeleteThis is the funkiest "snack" I've ever eaten but it is good! My sister just came to visit us here in Stockholm and I think she was actually frightened of it. But she came around. Still can't pronounce it though. :)
ReplyDeleteI have a blog about living in Sweden too (and a post about tunbrödsrulle - http://urbanpilgrimblog.com/2010/05/19/weird-swedish-food-tunnbrodsrulle/) so if you have time, check it out.
I'll keep reading :)
